I’ve just released Urbaneel 1.17 — available now on App Store and Google Play. This one’s about making the home screen feel like your home screen — plus two small, overdue buttons.
Pick an Icon and a Colour for Every Favourite
Favourites used to all look the same — same badge, same colour, whatever you saved. Now, when you add or edit a favourite, you choose from 16 icons (home, work, school, gym, shopping, food, beach, airport, and more) and 10 colours, and see the badge update live as you pick.
Leave it on Auto and it behaves exactly as before — your stops stay green, routes keep their line colour. Nothing changes unless you touch it.
The payoff shows up right on the map: your home screen’s Favourites row turns into something you can actually scan at a glance — the blue home badge, the orange briefcase for work, the purple dumbbell for the gym — instead of a row of identical pins.
Rate Us and Share the App
Two new entries in the home screen menu, under More:
- Rate Us opens the review flow directly — on iPhone, that’s the “Write a Review” form; on Android, it’s the app’s Play Store listing.
- Share App opens the normal share sheet, with a link that takes whoever you send it to straight to the right store for their phone.
Small, but I kept putting them off, and a few people had asked.
One More Thing: a Gentle Nudge
Check the same bus stop a handful of times and the app will ask, once, if you’d like to save it to favourites. Say no and it won’t ask again for that stop. Say yes, and it’s one tap away from the map from then on.
Smaller Things
- Carsharing photos from RideNow load noticeably faster and lighter.
- A background crash around missing location permission is fixed.
What’s Next
I’m continuously improving Urbaneel to make getting around by public transport easier for everyone — locals and tourists alike. Got a suggestion? Contact me or join the Telegram channel.
